How to get a ski trip to ski purgary ski resort | The Associated Press
PUMAS, Utah (AP) With his eyes closed, Scott VanDyk looked at the snow and saw something else: a man.
It was a white-and-blue ski cap, like a ski suit, that he was wearing.
The ski was in perfect shape and VanDysk had just climbed up a steep slope in the park’s Bluegreen Resort, the first of three resorts on the Utah ski trails.
The sun was coming down and VanDsk was the first person to set foot in the mountain range, an hour’s drive north of Salt Lake City.
VanDyk and his partner, Matthew Gough, had just completed their first day on the mountain and were riding a 10-minute, 6,000-foot climb up a slope where a glacier once carved an icy path that has been the source of a handful of snowfall in recent years.
When VanDyerks hat became stuck on a rock, he slipped on the snow.
He was taken to the hospital and spent the night, his face covered in bandages and his voice choked with emotion.
“I was on my way to ski a different resort, and the ski cap just fell off,” he said.
“My head hurt so bad.
I thought, What the hell happened?”
The ski resort is the first resort in Utah to open since 2010, and it has attracted tourists and visitors alike for years.
It opened in 2016, but it wasn’t clear when the resort would reopen.
VanDyks wife, Jennifer, who is also a medical doctor, has become one of the few public figures in the resort’s history.
He said she has been an advocate for the resort, as has a group of local business owners.
They are looking for a new location to open a new resort, one that could accommodate a much larger group.
“It’s been the most fun thing I’ve had in my life,” he told The Associated Post.
“It’s just an incredible experience to be back.”
VanDyk has been skiing since he was a boy, and he said the first time he skied with his parents in 1978, he was only 15 years old.
He remembers being scared of heights and looking for the safest place to ski.
His father told him that he would be safe at Bluegreen.
“When I was younger, I was terrified of heights,” VanDyneks father, Brian VanDydks, said.
He is a former ski instructor and was a big proponent of the resort when it opened in 1980.
He believes there was a lack of information for skiing in Utah.
He also said the resort has had difficulty attracting guests.
A new resort is a big deal, but he has never had any problems with the resort.
He does not want to see the resort closed, but said he wants to see it open sooner.
“We’re going to make sure that the people that have been in here for years and years don’t have to miss out on that experience,” he joked.
The resort is still operating, with a handful skiers and snowboarders who work from home.
In a letter to members of the Utah Legislature, VanDyrks wife said, “We have the best job in the world.”
He said he will continue working with his wife on the ski resort and hope to open the resort in 2020.
“I’m going to try and get that opening as soon as possible,” he added.
