How to avoid the Kalinga airport ban
Airport authorities in Kerala have banned the Kaleda resort in the state’s coastal Karnataka district, following reports of an outbreak of H1N1 in the resort.
Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced the ban on Wednesday after a number of people were reported to have contracted H1NVH from flights at the resort, which was situated on the island of Kalinganathur.
The resort was not informed of the ban, the state tourism department said in a statement.
The state government is also looking into the outbreak, it added.
The ban is not being enforced at the Kaleja resort, as the virus is only present in people with a low immunity to it.
According to the Kerala Health Department, the outbreak has been reported in several areas of the resort and several people have tested negative for H1.
The department is currently testing people from Kalingam district.
The resort is the only resort in Kerala to be open during the pandemic.
