Vice News: Trump: The Palms resort will be a “beautiful place”
Palms, California — Trump has announced that The Palm Springs resort will open in the summer of 2019.
Trump, the former reality television star and president-elect of the United States, made the announcement in a tweet late Friday afternoon.
The Palmetto, Florida-based resort, which is situated on a remote stretch of sand in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, will be located about 150 miles north of the California coast.
“The Palms will be the place for everyone,” Trump said in a statement Friday.
“The resort will create thousands of jobs and millions of dollars of revenue and will bring tremendous benefits to our communities.”
The resort’s opening is a big boost for the Palm Springs area, which Trump visited during his election campaign.
The resort is the latest in a string of Trump resorts to open in California.
Palm Springs is a popular destination for the rich and famous, and Trump has pledged to invest in the area.
Last month, he announced that he was purchasing the Palm Beach County Airport, which will house a new terminal and hotel.
Trump has also promised to give Palm Springs an $8 billion boost in economic development.
During his campaign, Trump often touted his business prowess and touted his plans to build a $1 trillion infrastructure investment.
Trump also promised that he would build a new casino in the nearby town of Mar-a-Lago, where he has been spending much of his time since he became president.
